Smile

Smile for the blind man
believe me he will see
for his hands will feel the pleasures
his eyes will never see

He'll feel the dimples nestled
in the hollow of your chin
he'll trace the smile to your eyes
he'll know if its a grin

So, smile for the blind man
and show him how to steal
the beauty of your laughter
with a smile he can feel!

Old woman

Dark sweet night
upon the windowsill you lay
watching shadows cross the yard
where children used to play

swing ruffled by the wind
rusted chain gives a sigh
listening closely for voices
as they whisper, passing by

years have stretched the canvas
on which my faith was based
watching all the avenues
of hope, become erased

ghosts of that laughter
echo inside my heart
ninety seven years of memories
swarm , as I depart

on this wind swept night
my head rests on that windows sill
the mist curtains my eyes
of this life, I've lost the will

I've wandered down this way before
repeating the things I hate,
feeling the things I love
wandering down this way

trying to imagine what it takes
to change the things I hate
while keeping the things I love
I can almost see that I am alone.
